I'm interested in starting up a couple of different web projects and my interest has taken me to a lot of different "webmaster" type forums on the internet. It dawned on that WMT doesn't have a forum where people can discuss various scripts available for building social networking websites or to add to already existing websites.
It wouldn't have to be a forum devoted exclusively to scripts maybe a subforum to Website Review And Suggestions? As the owners/operators of WMT you may be hesitant to add another section that would make the front page longer or create another place your mods would have to patrol. But off the top of my head I've come up with a couple of "pros" that perhaps would help you see the benefit of a scripts forum.
Pros:
1.People like myself interested in reading/learning about scripts wouldn't have to visit other forums.
2.A "one stop shop" WMT would increase the amount of time people spend here leading to more page impressions and the possibility of becoming engaged with any advertising they come across.
3.A WMT that encompasses more areas of website building/administration could lead to more referrals from members as the place to go to for information. See also number 2.
4. Having a scripts forum would lead to people spending less time at other forums where they can learn or pick up bad habits.
Cons:
1. More work for mods.
2.The Drupal/Joomla-gelicals can get annoying after a while.
I hope my short list of pros and cons will nudge you to consider adding a forum for scripts. And since I'm a blogger I want to congratulate you on your decision to make the blogging forum a main forum.
