hi okay whats with the huge banner which seems to have appeared in the past few days?

rather annouying

It's called an advertisement banner, it's yet another way WT can generate revenue from ads

They all seem to be from clickbooth, so I'm guessing Tim registered with them as a publisher.

(And I found it kind of annoying to, right in the ad heatmap hotspot)

i know what a ad is im just like why am i seeing it! Lol

i thought the deal was once you get more than 25 posts and stuff your free from it (not including the one on the main banner)

its just really annouyinh...

It's not an affiliate link for myself or anyone. They signed up as one of our exclusive advertisers. It's a great network worth checking out.

We may be offering some reduced ad style versions to members sometime next month.

Okay sounds good, btw i asked Whym (a mod) about it and he said he cant see it he didnt know it had been added and only saw it when i sent a screen shot so is this becuase he mod or something or is it his Ad blocking software?

I use Adblock Plus - maybe this is simply blocking it? Cool if it is - I salute you Adblock!

We're going to find out, Tim. I signed up through the ad, despite my opinion (and Dan's) that the ad in the middle is really obnoxious). What's really weird is that there's a "We Share Ad Revenue" part that would work perfectly.

Anyway, I'm going to test it.

At first I was thinking it was just a minor inconvenience with its text ads. But now its really starting to get irritating, with the images of mouths, flashing all the time, etc.

If the staff doesn't want to (re)move it just yet, is it possible to just tone it down a notch or two?

no offence tim, love the forum and the non-spamers here but that ad really it just obnoxious.

@Whym

I got IE Pro and it seems to be covering some ads. i havent seen any adsense ads on the top banner here for instance, it just shows a blank blue box every now and then

In response to some of the posts members have made regarding our new banner, we would like you all to know that we are 100% willing to allow any senior forum member to turn it off. Even though we have an advertising agreement in which we paid for the banner to be seen across the board, we would much rather take into consideration members’ wishes respectfully. We are a company that values each partnership we have and works hard to show it. As we have become part of this community, it is only right that we show you the same respect!

Lol...

i can understand wanting **** needing these kinds of "relationships" between sites/companies but its just the banners are so flipping in your face its very offensive, when you are a avid member, like many of us, its just annouing when every time you go on a page you have a mouth shouting at you and flashing like ****.
