Hello to all,
I might suggest a forum for forum only talk. I love working on forums only, so it might be a place where other people can talk about how to make a forum, software talk, how to maintain a forum and such topics like that.
It is just an idea, but maybe it would work.

Sounds like a good idea
All the new forum organizations, new suggestions, etc. are being talked about on this thread:

Thanks for the comments. I just feel that being a webmasters forum here, forums are a big part of sites these days. So it would be nice to have a place to talk to fellow site owners instead of having to go somewhere else.

I think that may be a good forum (unless people want to spam it with their own forums). Managing a forum can have some great discussions.

I understand greatly. I think no one should be able to spam, yet they should be able to talk about how to get posts, banner ads, and other things needed to run a great forum. So some spam rules would have to be enforced. I would volunteer to help if I could.

Great idea. This would move the questions about forum programming issues off of the HTML forum.

I think it's a good idea too. I think adding it right under the Blogging Forum in the Website and Search Engine Talk area would make sense.
Dave we could always have a promote your forum subforum of the forum forum. Say that 10 times fast.

Exactly. And there could be more definitive discussions.

Promote Your Forum subforum of the Forum forum! Yeah!
That's something to consider. Maybe we let someone promote their forum in the Promote Your Forum subforum of the Forum forum if they put a link back to this forum on their forum.

I afraid it’s going to be wise versa. People will put links to their forum asking
this forum forum about how to deal with forum issues they have on their forum

Dave would the link back have to point to the Promote your forum subforum of the Forum forum or could it point to the Forum forum itself? Or would any forum on the Forum work?

Maybe I should create a podcast
On a serious note though, if the WT Staff is seriously considering an forum advertisement thread. Perhaps it deserves an entire new category, such as:
Promotional Talk - General Website Promotion
- Blog Promotion
- Forum Promotion
- Submit to My Directory
Although I'd be careful with this idea, as many self-promo, link drop threads are already deleted here. Also they'd have more of a chance of attracting spam. But on the plus side, this may help keep the other boards cleaner.

Reason: general and misc. are basically the same thing

Good grief! Actually, if we have a link back, I think it should just come to Webmaster-Talk index page.

I don't think it would be a good idea to have a whole promotional forum since it would just be a spam place. I agree that we'd have to be very careful. The only reason to have the Forum forum have the Promote Your Forum forum would be to help others with their forum questions and let them promote with one thread.
There are sites where there's more forum promotion in that a team of forum members go to the new forum and post for a short while to help it get going.

fastreplies,
You could always look in the freelance writers forum in the marketplace for forum posters.

Dave I had to write that out and think about it a few times to see if it still made sense in the end.
James I think if we create a forum about forums many people will just post to visit theirs anyway. The promotion subforum would be a way to separate those who want to discuss how to run a forum with those who just want to post a link to their forum.
