I got an email from this site that basically said, at least in the first paragraphs, that If removed myself from the mailing list my account would be deleted.

Why not block the email? because I might be getting PM notifications or something and don't have time to sort which is which.

Does anyone else dislike this kind of rule, or do you think it's a good way to talk to your viewers?

You can disable the PM notifications and the Subscribed thread notifications under the UserCP

..and as the newsletter said..

In your control panel, you have the option not to receive email from admins without your membership being deleted (I should have added that to the email). I'm sorry that this one email you have received notifying you of some forum changes was so annoying to you. You do have the option not to receive them.

It was the impression that I got that bothered me.
