Normally, we'll handle problems in a private setting....like PM'ing. We'll let our professionalism show by talking to individuals and taking care of problems in a diplomatic way as much as possible.
Remember, any member can do something wrong or against the rules. But public embarrassment or humiliation is probably not the answer. It could not only drive away the individual that erred, but it could also drive away other members because of the way it was handled.
I have quit visiting a few forums because of the way people were handled when they made a mistake, or when they asked questions that didn't seem appropriate to a couple of members.
Sometimes, the mods or admins will make suggestions in threads for members that might have erred. For example, one suggestion that has come out several times in the Site Review forum is "If you don't have something constructive to say, please don't post!" That was a suggestion to those that made posts like "It's sucks"..."I hate it"... "That's terible".... It was a suggestion, it was not intended to embarrass anyone. If they continue with such replies, they ended up being PM'ed and the replies deleted.
So the thought here is if you see a suggestion from a mod or admin after your reply, they might be trying to be diplomatic and give you a warning (a warning without embarrassment).
Everyone likes to be treated fairly and nicely. So, if we expect that, we should do that too.
Our "carding", so to speak, will be in the form of a PM. We can all be professional here by doing one simple thing: Think before you post!
