Hey guys,

Well, I do have a statistics page that can be found here:

I didnt want to openly advertise it but decided it would be okay if I posted it here. As well, it does not seem to be accurately updating the page views (We had well over 90,000 last month). I usually just look at the W-T log files anyway.

I am still considering the SPAM forum....

Since the members list can list alphabetically, or by date joined, or by top posting, is there a hack that would make a list of all members with their number of posts following?

Another interesting feature in the member list is the posts per day number.

I would be interested in both of those and I do believe there might be a hack for it.

Hi Dave,

I would be interested in a hack that ranks users by the posts per day, though I can probably guess that ghettocars would be first on that list.

I'm sure there's a hack somewhere on vbulletin.org, but of course, I can't check since I don't have a license.

We'll have to do some investigating. IMO, Chopper is the king of the vBulletin installs and hacks.

I dont think I am following you. Like a List of all the Top Posters Per Day? Like who has the highest average since joining? That would be a pretty cool hack.

although lately ive been on vacation and still will be until a week from now, so now every one else has a chance to catch up. See i just managed to get a lap-top and post some messages, but dont worry once i get back theres gonna be some major posting to do

i think the average number of posts per day would be a great tool to use. it would show conclusively who the most contributing members were, and how much they contributed. it should go side by side with the length of time that they have been joined for, as this would give an idea of whether or not it is just a flurish at the beginning of their career, and then will sag off later, or if they're gonna keep comming back and helping people over and over.

Just because a member has a particularly high average posts per day does not necessarily mean that he has been particularly helpful to other users.

I participate at other forums where there are many people who spam to increase their post count, and though they end up with something like 15 posts per day, most of it is just junk and short replies. I know it's sad, but some people will do anything for posts.

But I'm glad that we maintain a much higher quality standard of posts here at Webmaster-Talk.

i see no reason in posting purely for postings sake. it gains you nothing. if anything it can be detrimental if people see that you have been posting purely for the reason of increasing your post count.

forums are all about trust. you trust that you are given sound advice, and that those people advising you know what they're talking about. if you have a high post count, for me anyway, it does install confidence in the person, but that can easily be taken away if i see they are spam-posting...hence why i think a spam forum would be an excellent idea. it would give us an idea of who to and who not to trust.

most of all though i guess i trust the mods and ads, because they have been elevated for a reason, because of a continual contribution of high quality (or cause they bribe chief with free banner ads). either way, they are either very contributing members, or very cheeky, and therefore deserve recognition.

the fact remains, if you give out sound advice on a regular basis and try to help people, your posts, and your popularity, will grow. you will become a trusted "old hand" and are therefore in a much better position to advertise yourself. nothing beats respect. microsoft (apologies for swearing) have unsummounted respect because of their marketing and producing capabilities, if you can do the same, albeit on a much smaller scale, then you will be sucessful, and this can help in many ways to improve your business.

if you post well, post frequently, and make yourself known as an expierienced and trustable person, then people will grow to like you, and respect you. they will click more readily on your links, and thus you will benefit from your own hard work, as will all the people you have helped. its a win-win situation, as long as you don't abuse it.

abusers must be caught and punished. the "list of shame" or spam list, would be a great way of doing this. you can name + shame those who continue to pollute our forums with absolute garbage, and let everyone know who they are. then we can go to their houses, break down the doors, tie them up and burn them at the stake MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I totally agree with what you said there. By making quality posts, you build trust and confidence with the people around you. But I'm sure a person who posts only for the sake a post count wouldn't be so upset with their house being burnt down as much as their post count being reset to zero. Now that would be devastating.

But since the two admins have more posts than anyone else, I guess they must be the biggest spammers. *hears Chief and Dave's angry voices in the other room, threatening to de-mod me* Never mind, pretend I never said that.

You can find out when each member joined the forum. Chief and Chopper joined in December 2001 when they were doing their "creating".

But January 2002 was really the "Grand Opening".

So what day of the year is this? That's about how long it's been open.

wow, really not that long then, 8 months and 1000 members, thats over 3 members a day at least!! Go WMT!!

i didn't know Chopper was one of the original creative parties involved, i always presumed chief was the sole brain behind this mad scheme. credit where credit is due, thankyou to chopper as well. keep up the good work guys, you're doin great!

i think chopper had a big part on creating the forum and creating its look (anyone who has saw his site will know hes good at skinning boards)

He is the owner of www.tech-forums.net and is currently working with myself on a NEW project to be announced shortly (along with Dmo224.

wow that sounds great Chief. I hope this NEW project is as good as WMT.

btw davetodd, I also missed 2 1/2 weeks of posting. I was on vacation close to where Tim lives. I was in busch gardens then went to Orlando for a couple days and then back down to west palm beach. In total I spent around 7 days that I couldnt post.
7 days! thats about 140 posts ive missed.

well at least im happy now im a webmaster talker

lol the good news is that now my programming teacher lets me spend 30 minutes each day on doing whatever I want. I usually come here and post.
