Tried to add Avatar and Profile and not sure if I succeeded. Webmaster-talk says maximum:
Profile photo 100x100
Avatar 80x80
Those I tried to upload are:
Profile photo 86x100
Avatar 70x80
yet message is "upload failed". But when I go to edit Avatar again, I see current Avatar as the one I uploaded. Utterly confused.
Now posting to see if Avatar displayed.

Ha, I see my beautiful Avatar. Wonder if administrators of Webmaster-talk monitor forum. If so, please tell us what is going on. Why I get message "upload failed" and yet above, and I suppose in this post, Avatar is displayed. I think Webmaster-talk need a bit of overhauling. Hope I don't get banned from here for that little remark.

Dude, I think you should check and post these to the right forums. This certainly isn't HTML help...
Again, you probably want to be posting here. Better yet, you may want to read the rules.

Dear Tamar?
Sorry about the ? at the end of name, but took time off to read rules, so not sure if I got name correct.
Re: Dude. I am a No Speak English (non-native) new forum member and for me, "dude" convey something derogatory. However, I have seen and received messages where I (and others) are addressed as "dude" but from context, can see it is not meant in that spirit. Googling "dude" also turned up "term of endearment" (huh?) and "use with care". Whatever it is, I take no offence.
"Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic. .... not up for discussion."
Looks like I may be in trouble :-(
But I cannot post in "Suggestion" without enough posts and maybe I was careless and did not do due diligence in searching for the right forum for I remembered not being able to find the right one. Whatever it is, praying administrator is kind to newbies.
"Treat new members with respect, and visa versa."
This is hardly a problem as a veteran Yahoo groups member where it is made very clear anyone flaming will be banned.

Dude, the term dude is an American English slang word generally used informally to address a male individual.
The next time you're at the video store, check out Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, and Dude, Where's my Car. I don't know if there are English versions of these movies in Malaysia, but they will show you how to properly use the term "dude".

Sorry, wasn't derogatory or intended to be at all. I just think that if you have questions, you should wait until you get enough posts to post in the appropriate forum.
Cheers

Thanks Tamar,
Although a Webmaster Talk newbie, have been involved in many forums and blogs (where I sometimes get comments addressing me as "dude") to know that it is not derogatory, at least in the rest of US minus Texas, land of the cowboys?
Wonder how a newbie start to accumulate enough posts to qualify. Small talk perhaps? (not meant to be sarcastic although tone is).

Thanks ????
As mentioned earlier, cannot see name of person I am responding to so 1000 apologies for not remembering your name, but thanks for alert. Actually got a an alert that there are new messages, probably from chris.... warning me again and probably deducting another I don't know how many points. Hope I don't end up in minus territory and owing Webmaster Talk points.
However, I use many browsers and cannot remember which browser it was when I got that alert about new messages, but could not view because of pop-up blocker and there was no option to allow pop-up.
Now got to send this replay off and ensure there is no link in signature till I learn how this forum operates. Going to see if I can view the messages now and hope it is not a message from admin saying I am about to get booted out of this forum.
Humbled Peter (no nothing)

Peter,
I'm sorry I did not see this thread sooner. If I had I would have posted to help you find your private messages. Regardless of the browser you are using there is a link menu at the tip right hand corner of the page. One of those is "Private Messages". This is where you would go to view the messages from Chris Hirst.
You can read all of our rules here. If you have questions or if you are unsure of something, you can send me a private message and I will help you. There is a button at the bottom of this post that says "send PM", just click that if you need to ask me a question.

Dear KML9870,
I am a compulsive "guesser" and I am guessing you are Webmaster Talk forum (very interesting forum) owner and Chris Hirst is either co-owner or admin or senior moderator.
Taking this opportunity to add a suggestion. How about somewhere in forum homepage a section on number of members just like Google group. We like to know how many potential readers of our posts here.

Peter,
I am just a moderator here, so is Chris. It's our job to make sure everyone follows the rules.
The number of members can be (and has always been) found on the bottom of the forum index page (home page).

Thanks KML9870,
Glad I can see your message plus Avatar while typing this message.
Rules. I am all for rules. Anytime either of you find me flouting any rules, just send warning and it will stop pronto. No anarchy for me.
Kindness? Hope I can meet your standard. Would this do?

It should also be mentioned that moderators and admins ALL have badges under our Avatars that tells you what our mod or admin status is. No need to GUESS at all.

To me, the only reason you would get that message on vbulletin are as follows:
bad file type
exceeded the maximum file size
bad dimensions

If you look, it ACTUALLY says 100x100 OR 97.7KB
So, even if you make 100x100 but you're over the size limit, it still won't work.
