Hmm, I think that is a good idea. Maybe we could put a closed thread in the announcements section that has the last newsletter in it. It could be read only and would be replaced with the next edition when it's sent. That way there is a copy, and it's the latest copy, and lots of system resources are not consumed keeping an archive.

But would an archive be worth keeping somewhere? I've kept mine.

Hi Dave,

You sure you wanna do that? That might discourage people from subscribing, as they can just come to the forums and see it instead. I know I wouldn't have subscribed at all if you posted every issue on the board.

I was thinking it can be put in the Newsletter forum, but you can only view it if you subscribe to the newsletter and are not recieving it, I myself re-subscribed yesterday and figured out that I had to confirm the email, I must have deleted it the last time thinking it was something else (stupid me)

Good point conker. I dunno' now.

Maybe there could be a sample of the present newsletter with about 2/3 of the articles removed. That way someone could start to read an article, or two, but would have to join to get the whole newsletter.

What about an archive of past issues? The latest issue could be several issues back.

Let's try to think of someway to make it convienent for the members, but also an enticement for more to join.

More ideas anyone?

Dave

that 2/3 idea sounds good, maybe put a little bit of the article on the forum then at the bottom put a link saying Read More>>> and link that to register to the newsletter.

webmaster-talk just keeps getting better

Hey people...this may sound silly (especially coming from me)....but how about having a "latest newsletter headlines" section viewable in a place that members & guests can be enticed subscribe...and an archive of all previous newsletter topics to encourage existing forum members to subscribe if something tickles their fancy!!!!!
Take care
Love Deb x

Or should we have 'em all archived and the archives only open to members.

Would this go along the lines that part of the newsletter would be available for all to read, but not the entire newsletter?

some people like getting newsletters in their mail box - some people hate them clogging them up

i agree that some people may unsubsribe because they can see it on the forum but there will also be people who will sign up because they can first hand view the quality of the newsletter

they should even out
