Don't kill me if this has already been mentioned but.....
I would love to see a "web linkage worth clicking" forum
much like that of www.hardforum.com except catered to webmastering

I know WT has the link swap thingymajigger.. but it has turned out to be mostly ads and/or people "hocking" their own site. (is hocking a word? i know.. it's not)

This should be for those sites that you have found useful over the years and continue to use to this day to help you along your journey to a "completed" webpage. I.E. HTML Doctor
or
Cool Text

It should be limited to professional web sites.

Couple of questions:
  • How do you determine what is professional?
  • How do you keep people from listing their own "fabulous" resource sites?
  • Will this be another place to catch a lot of spam?
  • Should it be a rule that you can't post your own site?
  • Etc.
Just the ever questioning,
Dave

I guess that would be too much work on the moderators....
Of course it should be a rule to not post your own site...
there should never be

people "hocking" their own site
I'm sure you'll get some spam.. but these can be sent to the spam can just like the rest of them!
more on professional: Site should:
  • Have a tool or resource that can be used repeatedly
  • Be easily navigable and well coded/designed
  • not have pop up boxes
  • not have too many advertisments
  • be good enough to set as YOUR homepage
Some GOOD examples:
Flashkit
Webmaster-Talk
Some BAD examples:
USS Valley-Forge (dead)
Bored.com

maybe if members had no control over what links are added

the admin could add all the links they feel would benefit the members and if they came across a good site on the boards they could add it in

That sounds interesting Fonz.

The members could suggest links to the mods or admins. Then the mod/admin could add it to the forum with the suggestors name. Would that work?

It would also be nice to be able to group them, and put 'em in alphabetical order.

Is that getting more into a directory page?

Dave
