New Mods??

I noticed that we've now reached the 1200 member mark. Firstly, congratulations to Chief and all the crew of WT for achieving this...When I arrived we were still around the 900 mark, showing a 25% increase in members since I've been here, and i've only been here about 2 months!!
I'm wondering when a new Mod will be appointed. It seems like only yesterday that Conk was making his acceptance speech and there were tears and flowers and glasses of champagne...
i believe it was mentioned that we'd get a new mod around the 1200-1400 mark? i'm just wondering if anyone can shed some light on when the next mod will be appointed. I checked out my own stats, and realised that I have a higher average posts per day than Conk, thus i should be open for consideration when the new appointment is considered.
anyone...mainly chief or Dmo i guess, that can shed some light on the situation?

funny because I was just thinking that a day ago, I was wondering that we just hit the 1200 mark and that they need to appoint new MOD's. But they are already doing a great job. I really dont think they need a new MOD.
The only thing ive seen that needs help, is teh moving, ive seen so many threads that need to be moved recently, and they never move them until a while. But other than that, WT doesnt really need another MOD until maybe 100-200 more members.
just my opinions.

the final decision will always rest with chief. a mod is not merely someone that can move posts and help out that way. it shows that the board has trust in that person to deliver frequent, useful advice to other members on the board. it is a title given to the people that have proved that they can be consistently contributing members.
i think perhaps we don't need a new mod quite yet, but probably within the next couple of hundred new members. and with the rate we're growing...about 3 per day is it now? then that figure should be within the next couple of months.
any light that you can shed on the subject Chief / Dmo / other mods?

Hey guys.
I need to chat with Ahmed and and Conker to see if they are still interested in moderating. I have not seen them around posting a whole lot lately (especially Ahmed).
I completely understand if a mod for one reason or another (ex. lack of time) decides they don't have the time to help.
We will probably pick up a new mod after the next 100 to 200 members. Possible 2 new mods if one of our existing mods no longer has the time.
Thanks

Why have one or two mods?? whats the point of that? why not have like 5 for example? that would make the forums much more clean and each mod would have to do less work?

Actually, at the time being, there are 6 mods, but 3 are admins, so that means there are 3 mods.
Mods are not just furniture movers, or police, but they are also gardeners. One thing told to me long ago was that mods need to nurture the forums that they mod. It's a big responsibility.
And we have several people qualified to be mods, I'm sure. But it's always good to express your interest if you're interested.

i dont think that theres a great need for it at the moment
most members know the rules and point newbies in the right direction anyway but i think that the present mod team are coping more than good enough with the current rate of posting

yes indeed.
hmmm 3 mods only? 2 more Mods would actually be beneficial in lets say, 100 more registered users.

i think yeah...the current mods are doin a great job.
3 mods and 3 admins, sounds about right to me for our current population. we have about 20-30 regular "nightly" or "bi-nightly" posters, and many people who stop by once a week or more to check for updates and info.
with the current rate of posting being (how many posts we get a night chief / dmo / anyone?), and with the mod staff being as it is, then if one or two of the mods are not (for want of a better phrase) pulling their weight, then it strains the others to keep up. perhaps adding another mod and replacing one that doesn't have the time to help out would benefit the forum, the final decision, as always, lies with the admins.
so...consider this me putting forward my interest in the post. i guess i've only been around for a few months, but i've made some friends, helped some people...
guess i'll leave it all up to you guys really, thats probably the safest thing to do

The potential is high for another mod fairly soon (sorry for the ambiguous terms there, but no absolutes).
Thanks to those that have said they are interested. We're talking about you now. That didn't sound right. Okay, we're discussing the volunteers behind their backs. Wait, that didn't sound right either. How about....We're discussing the matter.

nah, talk about us all you want, we are on your forums after all
new mod appointed soon hey? how many people are you considering? it's an interesting job, or less of a job, hobby, to have.
do you guys really sit down with that huge forumula and work out who is acceptable and who isn't, or is there a program or something that works it out for you?
surely it would be easier to have 2 input boxes, date joined and post count...and have it all calculated for you? you could probably do it on excel even, can't be that complicated...
anyways, straying of the subject somewhat so i'll leave it there.

lol no i think the equation might have been a joke, who knows actually.
well, we can all make a deal, whoever becomes next MOD shares all the secrets (ie: formula and all)
lol just kidding everyone

Actually, I don't know what I was doing when I made up that formula, lol. But there are some points in there that are considered when discussing mods. Like the number of posts, time here, etc.

i wouldnt use posts as an out and out guide though - i learned the hard way on my other forum
you need a lot of posts - but a lot of it is the influence you have on the board

the people that provide the right influence and provide the best information, consistently, should get the jobs as mods. at the moment, i don't feel like i've got the time to spare. maybe that'll change by next week. but you might have noticed my absence for the last few days. been ill again, and i'm having work piled on top of me from all over!!
so...i guess you'll have to count me out for now. because i feel i can't make the level of commitment required to be a mod. lol, makes it sound like i was a serious contender...
