Ummm... there's a lot of spam on the forums. Maybe a script could be made to filter out words and if triggered posts are not submitted?

I've noticed that a lot of spam starts getting through at this time of day, usually there's 5 or 6 threads about converting video and putting it on your ipod, or burning dvds each night, but every now and then the forum gets attacked a bit harder. One account in particular posted in 19 threads tonight, all spam.

Just use the report feature and a mod will be around shortly to clean it up.

Its not every night that this happens so investing in more protection might be overkill, especially when most of the time its just harmless junk that gets deleted within an hour or two max. However, adding a trigger so that when a post is reported x times it is removed (or moved) would be simple enough.

btw this might be more suited for the suggestion/feedback forum, for futrue reference

it is a good idea if a newbie will have to post first 50 quality post and not just any post like hello and welcome... that could be a spam too...

You could add a script like spam questions. I have one on my forum, http://www.thewriterscoop.org/forum. bots don't know what planet we live on. :P

I know that I personally am rarely here at 12:30 am....I get up at 5:00 am everyday and have to catch a little bit of sleep sometime.

As long as it is reported, even if one of us doesn't happen to be here we will get it as soon as we see the reported post. FYI - the report post function also alerts us by email, my email goes to my cell phone, so chances are I will get the email quickly as long as I am awake.
