Hey,

Is it possible to not show the deleted posts to users? The attached image shows why... it makes the board look sloppy and makes it harder to find actual posts.

Thanks,
Corey

+1. Some topics are full of deleted spam.

We do periodically move all the deleted threads but there are reasons to leave them for a short time frame.

I think leaving soft deletes are actually a good thing, it shows that WT mods have accountability and people also see reasons as to why their thread may have been deleted, posts removed, etc. Although, for pure spammers I can understand.

One tip I use for my forums when it was getting spammed to death was to merge the spammy threads after I delete them. That way it will only leave about one or two "Deleted by" messages on each of the forum pages or so.

Also, WT does have the SPAM-BIN. Don't why some are moved there and others aren't, however.

Short answer - There is some spam I delete completely as soon as I see it and some I leave for a few days and then move to the spam-bin but some I forget about because of the sheer volume of spam I end up deleting.

Also, when I suspect that a bot may be sending spam from the same IP, I put it in the spam-bin, so that it can be easily compared against other postings in the same bin. Sometimes, if the sheer volume of junk is choking a thread to death, rather than have several deleted messages in a row, I will bin them all.

Otherwise, having soft delete messages is good, because it tells people why we are deleting posts.
