I see we have reputation here. I go to another forum and it worked very very well over there so wanted to see what you guys thought. With this current system, you are stuck giving or taking away max reputation you have. I suggest we change our rep points into a dropdown list so we can choose how manny points to take away. Obviously, its not the actual points you have. Like right now I have 11 rep points, so I would not have 11 in my drop down. It should be 11/100 and so my dropdown would be 0.

So If I had 100,000 reputation points, I could go to a max of 1000 for my dropdown. And to make sure disagrees don't take away that much, it is the number you can take, divided by two, so 100,000 would be 1000/2 so 500 is the max.

Do you guys get what I'm going at? I think I am explaining bad. It's not as complicated as it sounds

There is the "talkupation" which functions in a similar (though simpler) way.

I highly recommend using it instead of "thanks" and "me too" posts

It gives options for voting up/down and a message.

Thats the same as what I'm saying. Right now it says I approve and I disapprove. All that is required for the change is calculating our reputation (our rep points /100) and making a dropdown with the values 0 to the numer we have such as 0-15 (so 0 1 2 3 4 5 etc.)

You can check it out here: http://forums.devshed.com/dev-shed-l...rk-618854.html

There are some reputation comments there.

If the system like this has been successful, then I seee no reason for changing it, but again, this is just a suggestion

I don't really know too much about the current implementation. The one you pointed too does look pretty interesting.

We'll have to see what the forum owners think

As good as the idea may be, I highly doubt anything will ever happen. For example I made Reputation suggestions closing in on almost two years ago:
http://www.webmaster-talk.com/sugges...extension.html

And STILL haven't heard an "official" reply, whether they're good enough to change or not, etc.

Unfortunately, this is just the way the WT staff is. So I wouldn't count on anything happening anytime soon .

Yea, most staff don't look in this forum on most of the forums I go to. But i figured that I might as well get the idea out there. They like it, they put it in the system, if not, well..I still like this system

There's an addon for vBulleting that allows you to give out different amounts or reputation or talkupation. Only Tim and Lee have the ability to add that so one of them would need to decide it's worthwhile and then add the addon. I think it would be a good idea. I don't remember what happened with the discussion we had on the staff side of the forum, though I do remember talking about it.

Yeah, that's the plugin I mentioned in the other TP thread:

Yep. That's the addon I was talking about. Like I said before, with this system, you can't see what posts have been approved of (like in this thread, if I approved with the above post, no one would know but me and him). It also lets you choose how many points you want to give out, instead of giving/taking the max each time.

Cheers
