All of us who've went through the installation of Apache, PHP and MySQL for the first time have more likely than not found it to be a tedious and time-consuming task.

With the release of PHP5, which has differences in its installation from v4, as well as the new MysQL 4.1 and the changed authentification scheme, even those who'Ve installed the trio once will probably be subjected to some new headaches.

Which is why I suggest an Installation sub-forum is made in the PHP/MySQL forum. A place where newcomers to the trio can find answers to their questions easily, instead of having to sort through other threads pertaining to PHP and MySQL. A place where the people who know can more easily give their help and advice to those who need it.

What do you guys and gals think?

You could just use http://www.easyphp.org

Installs PHP, Apache, MySQL and PHPMyAdmin at once, takes about 10 minutes to set it all up

I don't think we need a devoted forum...

I don't think we need a devoted forum either. At least not for this specific subject.

You could however make it a help thread in the PHP and MySQL area.

There are several threads asking the same question in there. Just use the search button
