Does Tycoon Talk have an official 'chat room'? I think this kind of thing would be useful because developers or people needing help could ask smaller questions and get quicker responses.

Not unless they created one and intentionally kept it from me

Personally I like the idea, maybe an IRC channel? (people still use IRC right?)

Yea, I like IRC. I don't use it as much because the only things (on the computer) I do beside program is game, and those have built-in chats.

IRC would be great, and if we used mibbit, technically we could have it embedded right into the site itself!

Of course they do. I had one setup for communicating with a friend sometime ago.

Usually, they get spammed normally from people logging in to say, "please visit this website", etc.. like any live chat system..

We'll, Tycoon Talk is a site full of developers, I'm sure somebody could think of something

For example, users that have only been connected for at least 5 minutes could post links. And users would need to sign in with their forum account, etc. It could be tough, but imagine how active the chat box would be!

I know we have idlers, but the PHP forum averages out at around 480 viewers at any given time. That's just PHP. The IRC could have multiple 'rooms'....There are so many possibilities!
