Suggestion for Moderating Website Sales

I have personally never sold a website through Webmaster-Talk, but I have bought sites through here, and I am active in the website sales forum (as I am always looking for new sites to ad to my network).
I believe that there is a big problem with people posting excessive negative remarks on sales posts, and that these people clearly have no intent of buying the website being sold. I constantly go to threads where a website owner is attempting to sell a website, and the thread is instantly polluted with posts from members saying "I'll give you $5" or "I wouldn't spend a penny on that site."
I also believe myself to be unbiased in this situation, as I have never sold a site here. It is clearly not a personal concern of mine due to an unsuccessful sale of my own; it is merely an observation that I have made countless times in browsing the forum.
My suggestion is this: either step up moderation of the website sales forum, or recruit a new moderator to make sure that people follow the forum rules (which include only posting if you are actually interested in the sale).

The rules state this;
Quote:
Special Note to Reply Posters:
* If your not interested, then don't reply.
* Do not post another offer in someone else's thread.
* Do not post negative comments in someone else's thread.

I agree we may need another moderator. I have sparked a discussion amongst the staff

In response to the problem, we have decided to close threads for replies. If anyone is interested in any of the sites listed in our Websites for Sale forum, they will have to use the PM system to communicate with the author. Authors can still reply to their own threads to provide updates.
Read the updated rules here

yeah your right developed web.
lots of troll replies about. and not just web site sales.
negative remarks on web sistes may scare off buyers- direct impact.
I have stopped going to google forum cuz some guys in there are just too big headed.
moderators dont seem to be doing much work there too.
If moderators were around to moderate whenever they can, the situation can be improved.
why blame moderators? yeah cuz I was in there on a heated argument for days with some guy who thinks he knows it all in search engine optimisation.
It went on for days and no moderator was around to help the situation.
?
thats my question anyhow!
pls advise.

madmonk,
Moderators cannot be in all threads at all times. If you get into an exchange such as the one you are describing, PLEASE use the Report Bad Post link at the bottom of the post and we will all see your complaint.
In response to the specific topic of this thread, the spam being seen in the websites for sale forum, a solution has been formulated and posted to that forum.
Now, can you specify which thread specifically in which you had a problem? TIA.

madmonk, a forum of this size gets spam all the time and we can not always get to it right away.
If there is a specific thread you have a problem with, as Kyrnt said, let us know!
Someone disagreeing with you about Google does not mean it is SPAM. Anyway I to would like to know what thread got you all in a huffy.

moderators response is poor in here. thats what I am getting at.
not about wanting moderators to be in here 24/7.
check this thread out.
no moderators, and this guy hounding on me for days.
Demanded stuffs and was impolite to me in first place.
direct confrontational quote from his post.
"If you have seen it you must remember where. Obviously you are just picking sides, and you have no reasoning to back up your point. "
Just cuz I have seen it, doesnt mean that I HAVE to remember the site and url....

Question:
wheres the moderators when you need them?

Madmonk,
If you had a problem with a post from back in early Dec why are you waiting until now to complain about it? You are right that the thread you mention got off topic and the back and forth bickering was pointless. The other member was maybe more pushy than he should have been.
There is always going to be disagreements when it comes to SEO and there is nothing wrong with a "healthy" debate. You should not let one member get to you so much (considering you are still upset about it after two months).
If you don't like our forums or our moderators moderating then it is up to you to continue to post and visit here. I'm sorry, but I don't understand the complaining about a thread that was around two months ago (which you are just now reporting).
From now on, if you have a problem with a post (and it can;t be just because of a disagreement) PM a moderator about it the same day.

Another humble note to add to that...
If you're bickering with someone, there's a very quick and easy solution to get them off your back:
Simply don't reply. If they PM you? Ignore them. They'll get bored in the end.
You don't have to post in a thread and don't worry about what one single other person thinks. Just leave the thread alone if you don't want to report it. If somebody else spots it, they'll report it and/or deal with it if they're a mod.
The system works.

Hi TimSchroeder and everybody else who replied,
thanks for the replies and enthusiasm but
you all missed my question.
"It went on for days and no moderator was around to help the situation.
?"
Am not complaining about the forums, or that particular thread, or something that is "bugging" me for 2 months!!
but instead, where are the moderators when you need them?

Did you even read our replies or the PM Kyrnt sent you?
I am sorry you don't think the moderators are there for you.
Repeat after me: "From now on, if I have a problem with a post (and it's more than just a disagreement), I will PM a moderator about it the same day and not wait two months later. Then if I do that, maybe the moderators will be there for me if I have a legitimate case. Afterall, WT does have thousands of members and hundreds of posts a day and the moderators can not follow every thread or post made by a single member..."
If you still don't GET IT, then maybe our forums are not for you. Thread Closed.
