I found the place where I should be able to delete my our own messages, so why is it that I can't do it? It doesn't let me!
After clicking on "delete" I get this message:

vBulletin Message
You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1.You do not have permission to access the page that you were trying to. Are you trying to edit someone else's post or trying to access administrative features? Check that you are allowed to perform this action in the Forum Rules.

2.If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Please explain, I'm not a brand new member, I'm activated, and it's my post...
Thanks
Kali

This is getting weirder...I edited this post, but each time I come back to it, it shows the original unedited one. I already found the delete post option, but am unable to use it.
I think I'll just go to bed and hope that all is back to normal in the morning.

Hi Kali,

Only Mods and Admins can delete posts. There is a place to click to delete your own post when you go back to edit it, but as you found out, it will not allow you to delete your post. If you do try to delete it, you get the "catch-all" notification.

The decision not to allow deletions of posts by those making them was basically due to the problem that might arise if the post was the first one in a thread. If it was the first, and it's deleted, that would delete the entire thread, which could cause some problems later on.

However, if you post something that you don't want to leave, you can go back and edit it to say something else, or to say nothing. You can also notify the mod for that forum, or an admin.

I hope that answers your question.

Dave
