For some reason (and I am clueless as to why) I am unable to post a reply yo the message here http://www.webmaster-talk.com/showthread.php?t=27863 it is a music website for sale. It says I do not have permission to post there and I tried to PM a mod and and it will not let me do that either. I also cannot find a "contact us" anywhere. I cannot figure out why you would have a forum with no way to contact a mod and not allow signups to post a warning on such a blatant virus site that is linked here.

Mods PLEASE rethink this policy and please check this thread out "large music site for sale" or similar. I have cleaned endless adware and several trojans that infected me from that site they are allegedly selling. I am sure this is against the T&C somewhere, I just dont understand why I cant post in that thread to warn. I have tried many categories to try and post this to and find some way to notify a mod. This is the only solution I have found.

Also note that you can report a thread/post by using the button in the bottom left corner of the post box. You can fill out a short form of why you're reporting the post, and this will be sent to the forum mods/admins.

There are several reasons of why we do not allow posting in that forum and why there is a post count necessary to send PMs. As Praveen mentioned, they are listed in the separate forums, in the rules, and elsewhere.

Thanks for your report. I'm checking out that thread now.

Dave

For any future users who end up reading this thread, I think it's worth explaining.

PM's are limited to users >5 posts to prevent "drive by spamming" via our PM system. Since we have initiated this rule, PM spamming has decreased considerably. Though staff can still PM a user if there is need for immediate contact.

If a user needs to contact the staff, there is the contact form (linked at the bottom of every page), the "Report bad post" (linked on every single post), as well as the Confidential Talk forum which we created specifically for user-to-staff discussion. So there are an abundance of ways a user can contact the staff other than the PM system. However, these methods of communication may not be readily visible to new users not used to our policies, so I think we'll be doing some editing to include more helpful/descriptive error messages and prompts.

We do not allow replies in the forum (which is indicated clearly in bold, red font in the sticky rules thread) to reduce the amount of petty bickering. The marketplace is just an extra feature. We don't want Webmaster-Talk turning into eBay, but we like to offer our regular users a way to offer or pick up deals. Since the "if you're not interested, don't reply" suggestion wasn't working, we had to solve the problem one way or another.

As I can see, Pokeraddict, one of your other threads has been moved into our Confidential Talk forum by cptnwinky. If you wish to further discuss this matter privately with the staff, then feel free.

Thanks everyone. I knew this was not the right place and your pm policy makes sense. I seem unable to clean all this crap off my computer I got, it is nasty. I did not get it from just going to the page. I clicked on one of the letters of the directory and got swamped. Very sorry to be of trouble but as I said I wanted to warn people.
