I've noticed from time to time over the last few weeks we keep seeing this same spam done by people who have just signed up however, I think it's safe to assume that they are the same people each time.

So, my question is whether or not the Admins are keeping track of the IP's of these people and would blocking a (small) block of IP's thwart these guys for a time?

For the record you guys do a wonderful job of cleaning it up fairly quickly it just makes me disappointed to (not in the staff) to keep seeing it pop up.

We have been getting slammed with Cell Phone Spam for awhile now and delete them as soon as we see them. I don't know why they bother as I highly doubt any of them convert to a sale.

I'll need to look if the IPs are all the same. I have not done that yet.

By the way, it's great to have you back on our forums.

I've had some more time lately as I was laid off recently (well, it's been a couple of months now). I'm hoping to start with a new company this month and if that does happen I may not be around that much again. School is killing my free time but I am learning an awful lot so it's worth it.

Yep. Several IPs in common. Have taken action and will continue to do so.

Sweet, now if I could only find a way to strangle them through the computer...

I've also just received an email from 'shetookmyboxer' promoting a youtube clone, site is phplooker.

Why not just restrict how soon you can send a mail message to a week or more after you sign up?

Also, how about limiting the number of emails you can send per day to 2? If you can only send 2, it's not worth a spammer's time.

Finally, force one of those tests that confirm that the sender is a person, using random text in an image and asking the user to type the text.

Thanks guys. I've contacted shetookmyboxer and to let it be known this isn't allowed.

Thanks for the compliment. I just happened to be on the forum and was checking my thread subscriptions. I had seen Peter's post when I first logged on and was ready to take action.

And flattery is always good.

I was spammed by shetookmyboxer, exactly the same message as above. And I don't even come to this forum - I only found out through email notification!

My forum was also receiving large amounts of these types of posters. I have found the solution to cease all of these spammers. PM me if you would like to stop the spammers from entering Webmaster-Talk.
