It seems like I've taken over this forum at the moment - sorry if I'm overposting on it with spam reports etc. but after seeing the success of the post below, I really think a sub forum in general discussions for political and religious discussions could greatly improve the forums. Hope you'll take my suggestion into consideration

Personally they are two topics that should only ever be seen in political or religious orientated forums.

Both are guaranteed to start arguments and / or flame wars.

I totally agree... but I'm going to have fun watching the thread play itself out

The general discussion forum is just that....general discussion. It's open for any post that adheres to the rules. In my time here I have seen some pretty heated discussions. If it gets out of hand then we will close the thread, but there have been quite a few interesting discussions on controversial subjects with many different views expressed that would not have existed if they had not been allowed openly. As long as the rules are followed and it is a peaceful conversation, general discussion is where these threads belong.

I have to agree with Chris on this one. These types of discussions can quickly get out of hand and turn into nasty flame wars. On the other forum I admin for we have a strict 'no politics' rule, we just don't need the hassle they turn into.
