Hello All,
My first post, I hope someone has an answer to what is proving to be a really annoying problem.
I set up PHP, MySql and Apache on Windows about two years ago. No problems with any of it until about 3 weeks ago, when I went to the MySql command line, put my password in, then all I get is a beep and it goes from the screen. Eventually I found out, start it as a service and it will work. Sure enough I did, no problem.
Now, it just does the same. Checked that it was running as a service, it is. Uninstalled and reinstalled MySql, problem remains.
I have run the server instance config wizard over and over, I keep being told "The security settings could not be applied to the database because the connection has failed with the following error.
Error Nr. 2003
Cant connect to MySql Server on 'localhost'(10061)
If a personal firewall is running on your machine, please make sure you have opened the TCP port 3306 for connections."
I am running McAffee, went in to the settings, allowed access to port 3306 as set out in the help files, seemd to make no difference. Then, I temporarily disabled the Firewall, reconfigured thru the config wizard, and all was fine. I went on to MySql from the command line, even managed to change the password and it ran fine, even after enabling firewall again. Switched PC off, restarted, MySql will no longer let me in just like the original problem, and wont recon fig until firewall is off.
It driving me crazy, sorry for the length of post, but any help would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks
Hank Scorpio
Edit- I got a newer version of Mcaffee about 6 weeks ago, its only since then the problems have occured
