WebSQL wants to run on every DBMS and wants to give you the chance to have a unique tool to access and manage a DB...through a simple web interface.

Visit our home page: http://www.websql.eu

Best regards,
WebSQL Staff.

Hi, sorry for poor explain...

This is a web based application that can be installed on a web server (you need just Tomcat) in your environment to manage your database over a browser.

User can:
- browse database structure as tables, views, keys, indices etc.
- create, edit, and execute SQL scripts
- save and reload queries
- view database structure as ER diagram

It works with any JDBC compliant database (Oracle, MS SQLServer, MySQL, DB2, Sybase, Firebird, HSQLDB, PostgreSQL, Apache Derby, Mckoi SQL)

This is only a beta version, we are working to give more staff...

Regards.

Where is your website? That link is just to a forum.

What we really need to know is how does it compare to phpMyAdmin? What does it do better?

Given that it needs Tomcat (JSP) to run, I wouldn't be banking on it taking over from phpMyAdmin any time soon.

websql,

Thank you for replying. Not all the hosting environments have TOMCAT (JSP) with their packages especially if people are in shared hosting enviroment.

Do you guys have any plans for them?

I take look at the demo, it takes a little long to load.

Other than the above said, it think its pretty neat. Good Luck!

I guess you get what you pay for

If this is your free trial server, EATJ.com shuts down your server every 6 hours. You can login your accout at http://www.eatj.com to restart it at any time and continue your trial. Or upgrade your account to Production or Developer account
For Production and Developer account servers, to avoid your server down, you can set up 24x7 monitoring. Login to your account and click monitoring check box in 7x24 MONITORING.

??? I've never heard of a forum being the main part of a business website.

Dude, get serious - you have NO website for this product - a forum is NOT a website for your product.

A real website would contain information such as a comparison with phpMyAdmin - you don't have that because you don't have a real website for this product yet.

I can only imagine your product is in the Alpha stage of development - not even a Beta candidate yet - who would want to trust their database to that?

Sri_gan thanks for your interest,
we know about this problem and this is why we're having some problems in giving you a good service for the Demo.
About performance testes we not yet go in cause we are focusing on extending WebSql's functions.
We hope to get some feedbacks from you both in how it works than in what it miss!!!
What actually we know is that some performance problems are related to technology we use and in how it render business object to web-layout.
If you have any other question or suggestion please ask or send it to them.
Thanks again

Dear joder,
you are right but unfortunately we don't have a good initial budget and actually there are no so much cheap hosting server that provide what we need. I beg you to try directly the downlodable version and to forward us your opinion.
Thanks

We're trying to be serious but unfortunately it doesn't seem so.
Probably a cool website will help us...and you 're right that a forum is not a website at all.
If you know a good webmaster that'd like to help us please suggest him/her to contact us...we will be glad to use his/her help.
You can call this step as you prefer (Beta, Alpha or Gamma), for us the scope is to provide an initial "primitive" free tool unrelated to any specific DBMS and to get some feedbacks on it (anything that can help us in providing you a better tool), We are not yet asking to trust our tool in a production environment but believe me we had tried it without any damages.
The main differences with phpMyAdmin are :
WebSql is free and it is a systems-unrelated project (that means no matter which OS or DBMS). It manages in the same way and at the same time different DBMS giving you a single way for final user to access their different DB.
I you want any other information please refer to our not-website or send us an email.
Thanks
WebSql Team

I wouldn't touch this with a ten-foot pole. I can't see how anyone who's doing serious DB admin staff can use these web tols.

P.S. I wouldn't go with an ISP who didn't allow external DB access either.
