I need to create a MySQL DB w/ 1and1 hosting that will allow me to install the osDate script. I made one w/ 1and1 in the control panel. But 1st off I don't know how to set one up beyond crating a name and password. I don't know if the osDate script will take care of the rest. But anyway I typed in the DB name and password for my osDate installation and it would not accept it. osDate said that the DB host is usually called "localhost". Well when I made mine w/ 1and1 I got this info that I cannot change. All except for the password are like this db18323737821 and so on. None are named localhost. osDate won't take my DB info.

DB Name:db#########
DB username: db#########
DB pswd : ########
DB host: db###.perfora.net

Often times database servers are configured as "localhost", but I guess hosting companies that have a lot of clients need multiple servers and so they change the host name to something like db.site.net. Just change the "localhost" in the osDate script to whatever 1&1 said the host name is.

Here's a link to a pretty good MYSQL tutorial: http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/phpmysql/1
