Not quite what I meant

More like is it to be used on a -

Website, Desktop, WAN, LAN, single machine.

and is it multiple user with multiple simultaneous client access or single user, single client access.

Ok it probably isn't going to happen without any coding all in that case, but SQL Express and Access for the clients should do what you need.

Microsoft Access, which is part of Office, is your best bet. It's made for desktop access by multiple (in theory up to 255, really more like up to 25) people at the same time, data storage, entry forms, and reports.

You'll have to do a little coding, but you can do all of it with the mouse.

Oracle is certainly the best database server. However there is no free lunch in this world. The price to subscribe the server is not cheap too.

But, there is another option besides what have mentioned in above. I feel that MySQL performs quite well. Thus, I would like to suggest it.

As a DB Oracle is Greate.Really No Challenge To Oracle.
I can say as I had worked with MySQL,Postgre,Derby,MS SQL
But Oracle is far better then among.Specially When You need any enterprises class serious application.
But In your case Postgres would be far better then MS Access.

This will covers your needs.
I don't know why you want to develop your application in old models. That allready showed their worth.

MS Access is the ideal solution, and Postgres would be a very bad choice.
