hello everyone, i am an absolute noob at DB's, just a quick question to make sure i wont run into anything horrific.

i will be moving 1 or 2 websites into another one (ok let's call the ones i have to move website A and B, and i need to move them into C).
Supposedly i will go into phpmyadmin in website A, back up my databases, and restore them on website C, correct? Then of course the files, download / copy the files from website A, upload them to website C.. etc.

now my question is - the "paths" will be different, right? So do i just put everything back and they will magically appear and work fine again? or do i have to change the settings?

Some databases i have to move include: phpBB forum, Menalto Gallery (2).

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

What you might want to do is first set up a new database on the server for site C. The reinstall the application. When you install the application it will ask you where the database is and set up all the paths necessary.

Then export the data from the database on the original site and import it into the new database on site C.

I'm guessing you haven't changed the actual files of phpBB and Menalto Gallery and if you have it's likely just specific theme files. You could move those specific files after reinstalling if you need to.

One good thing to all of this is that as long as you leave things on the current sites you can try the set up on the new site knowing that if you make a mistake it's ok and you can try again.

I hope that helps.
