I know absolutely nothing about MySQL. I am going to try to install a php dating script to a new project. Installation requires that I "Create MYSQL database and import data to it from database.sql file."

I can create the database, I think, but have no clue as to how to import this database.sql file.

Can one of the experts here tell me how to do this or direct me to some place where I can learn to do it?

depends on what access you have.

phpMyAdmin which should be available on your hosting is one.

If you are allowed remote host connections you could use HeidiSQL.

and if you have shell/SSH access you could use command line.
