Hey guys, sorry if this is a repeat question, I tried my best to find my question in previous posts, but no luck.

I own a fishing website, and made a script (using a simple script generator) for my members to upload their own fishing pictures and videos. I believe it is using MySQL to store the pics and vids uploaded, so it is asking me for my: hostname, username, password, and database.

I have no experience with MySQL, and have no clue how to get the info. My website uses cPanel X, so I went to MySQL Databases, and can't really find what i'm looking for.. any help?

hostname is the DNS name of your server where the database is located, or if the database is on the same server using "localhost" or an IP of 127.0.0.1 will do.

In MySql Database you then need to create a database, username and password.

christhirst gave you the basics, but if you have no experience with mysql, I recommend you do a little reading on one or all of the following sites:

MySQL.com
Tizag - MySQL Basics Tutorial
Other MySQL Tutorials

You will at some point, running a site like yours, need to do some stuff with mysql.. most easily done through phpMyAdmin, which, you should be able to find in your cPanel... I would recommend familiarizing yourself with phpMyAdmin, if you haven't already.

On another note, what kind of fishing site are you building? I am also in the process of building a fishing community site (see link in my sig). I would be glad to help you out if you have any questions or if your interested in doing some post or link exchange. Just send me a PM.

Good Luck,

Sam

Alright I made a new database, as well as username and password. It said it all worked, but when I tested out the form it said
Quote:
The requested URL /process.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Hmm..

Husky - send me an email if you would like to discuss our fishing sites (nick@mnfishing.org)

Are you getting that error when you when you run the script? Or is it from mysql... It sounds like your script might be might be missing the file it needs to run. Maybe try to reinstall the script?

make sure the path is correct to the process.php file. That's the most likely cause of the error your getting.

Good Luck
