Im gonna ask a dumb question... I hope you can answer

How do I setup a database. MYSQL is installed, I have the database details to the website now all i need to know basically is how to add a databse and connect with it?

Please if you do answer, give me the dumb persons version. Thank you

It all depends on HOW you want to connect to the database and what tools you have available.

It depends also of what permissions are given to connect on the database.
Which user is configured to, with which privileges, and if access restricted to the server only (meaning that only program running on the server can connect to the db), or can you log in from an external computer...

Well i suggest that if you can use phpmyadmin as you don't need to remember SQL commands. phpmyadmin is totally free and very easy to use.
