Hello everyone,

Since in my company we have to manage over 1000 prospects and clients, I would like to migrate all entries from Exel sheets to a database.
I am thus looking for an open-source solution to do that.
Basically what I imagine is a simple graphic user interface where you can look up the entries modify them and add comments. Maybe the interface could have Tabs like "Prospects" and "Clients" and I would then be able to move entries if a prospect becomes a client.

We would like to host this on our in-house server and 4-5 clients will be accessing the DB. (All clients are already hooked up to the server through MS Windows Server 2003)

Even though I consider myself a little tech-savy I don't really have an idea where to start...

Any help or suggestion is very welcome!

Thanks in advance

Greets

If you are using MySQL, I am sure other do the same, you should be able to import the data via the phpMyAdmin interface. Once the data is in the database you would then be modifying it using php generated screens.

Just to help streamline your thinking don't think of your lists as prospects and and another list for clients. Think of them as people who happen to either be prospects or clients. Then you just need to add a field to the recordset that indicates what this person is. You might conside adding date stamps when the person became a prospect and a second field as to when the become a client.

This is the exact same project I am working on right now, with no success.

Basically...

- I want to create an HTML form that gathers user-input (easy)

- Then, I want to store that data to a CSV file that is emailed to a specified email address, after the "Submit" button has been clicked (still working on this part)

the PHP manual (if one is to use PHP for this) has documentation on it's built-in function fputcsv()

Thanx for the input guys!

I'll try to migrate the whole data from Exel to MySQL as suggested by dgkindy and I'll keep you posted on the PHP interfaces.
