I apologise for anything wrong in this i have never really used databases but we all have to start somewhere! You will need to look at the spreadsheet first! I know this MAY not be to do with websites and sorry but I think it may be and you all are clever chappy's.!
Ok I have the following spreadsheet
http://valentinecuisine.com/GDS/databasetask.xls
Problem: every Monday a client goes in and calculates what is happening that week, what venues at what stores and what dates.
What needs to be done: A system/database (i think) needs to be produced the system needs to be able to show what is happening when and what venues (this sounds easy but if you look at the spread sheet there are multiple dates for the same venue and sometimes there are two events on the same dates).
The database needs to be able to work in more way than one. i.e. you cant just type in a date and query it you will need to type in a store number and the system should show what is happening at this store venues and dates. For example if we query "Johnsonville Sausage" we need to see what stores this demo is at and what dates.
Conclusion: we need to query: demo, vendor, demo Co., stores and dates and a list of results needs to be bought up. This could normally be done in excel by just applying auto filter but this only works for one row and there are multiple rows need querying. If you dont understand then apply an auto filter to the spread sheet and when you wilter dates for example you only get the ones in the first row. Apart from filtering every row is there a way to do this?
If this can be done with out all the internet database and in excel or access please say but as I said I don’t know and that’s why I am posting here.
thanks walker
