Oracle is supplied by Oracle, SQL Server is from MS.

Java can work with either. It will depend on what it is used for not with.

hytechpro,

Almost any database can be hooked into Java and by extension J2EE. Many database support a native JDBC connection or you can create a JDBC-ODBC bridge.

IMO, Oracle is a logical choice. But Oracle and MS SQL and more database are compatible with J2EE.
I think you should visit this link http://www.theserverside.com/discuss...thread_id=1334.
It will be helpful to you get more focus.

Choose the one that does the most for less.

Which puts Oracle cleanly out of the window. (postgres is a good database and its free and its got many features).

Of course MySql is free too but as of the current version its only saving grace is speed. But V5 is addressing this.
