Im changing hosts and undertook the normal steps to transfer the database, by backing it up then restoring it through cpanel at the new host, but the database wont restore correctly, it only restores part of the database. i've tried and tried again through other ways such as exporting it from phpmyadmin etc... but no luck.

any ideas?
thanks

Are both servers using the same mySQL version? What error are you getting?

I am having the same problem 177594 and someguy you are right it is the mysql version. My host told me. When you restore the database in cpanel it only makes the database not the tables in the database. Even when you import your database in phpmyadmin it say "Check the version". My old host had MySQL 4.1.13 and my new host has MySQL 4.0.25. I am wondering is there a script or program that can transform MySQL 4.1.13 to MySQL 4.0.25.

that sounds like the problem, it only creates the database not the tables.
are there any solutions to this?

Look for the errors being returned - it usually tells you what the problem is. I've had this before and managed to fix it with a search and replace on the insert statement.

Ifyou're stuck - post the error and the lines that it refers to and I'll try to take a look. Having a few problems of my own today (assclown host) so it might not be straight away.
