HI,

I have created an access database with Data Access Pages and am trying to make these available to mulitple users not on the same network.

The database works fine on my machine if it is pointing to the local host, but I need it to point to the database I have placed on the server. My hosting server is Godaddy.com. I have placed the database in a folder called /access_db/ The following is some of code that also includes the connection string that I am trying to use, but I don't know if it is correct. Any help would be appreciated.

This is the connection string <a:ConnectionString>Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4 .0;User ID=Admin;DATA SOURCE= & Server.MapPath("/access_db/dailyreport.mdb");

Below is the entire OBJECT tag section including the connectiong string.

Thank you!!!!!

HTML Code:
<OBJECT id=MSODSC tabIndex=-1
classid=CLSID:0002E553-0000-0000-C000-000000000046><PARAM NAME="XMLData" VALUE="<xml xmlns:a=&quot;urn:schemas-microsoft-com.office:access&quot;>

you could wrap that frontpage gibberish in [code] [/ code] tags to make a almost readable

see http://www.webmaster-talk.com/php-forum/11768-how-do-i-post-my-php-html-other-code.html

Hi,

I'm sorry if this is a bit off-topic, but doesn't Go Daddy actually provide some kind of support for its customers?

If you're a paying customer, then make your money worth and ask them for support.

Regards,

Hi Annt64,

I guess I am not the only person who struggle with this.
I struggle with the access database connection string with GoDaddy web hosting.
I have contacted them several times, but it seems the customer supports are not familiar with ASP.NET and always refer me to FAQ page which is helpless. Also I have google it, but couldn't find the answers.

Would you be sharing with me, how the connection string format should look like?

mine is:

<add key="DSN" value="Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;User Id=admin;Password=;Data Source=access_db/mydatabase.mdb;Persist Security Info=True"></add>

I don't see anything wrong, but it seems not the format.
Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks a lot!

I got the same problem, godaddy.com tech support is useless, cause there is no refund wat so ever, they don't care is your site work or not, I had my site build with dreamweaver 8, everything works fine locally, after upload to their server, it failed due to the improper dsn string. All I need is correct path for the connection string, they can't help..........
I decide to cancel the account and found out, "there is no refund if cancel" wat a rip off company GODADDY.com, hope god would call them up soon.........

seems to me you guys who are doing dev in access should get on the mysql bus. sorry you have had a bad experience with GoDaddy i actually have had nothing but good things to say about the service i get from them however, i use them as a registar, and not a web host. just like you would expect surgery from a used car salesman, why would you bask all your eggs into a company that generates its main income from domain registration? just my 2cents worth.

good luck in all your endeavors
