I have a problem with my RSS. I have writen it following the guidelines precisely, even so when I click on the link, it gives me the following error:

Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource 'http://www.webmaster-talk.com/rss.xml'. Line 1, Position 23

<?xml version="1.0" ?>

Any help?

Have you tried opening up http://www.webmaster-talk.com/rss.xml in your browser? There is no file there, it just redirects to the home page.

Oh, I typed www.webmaster-talk.com just to give an example, the domain name is different.

It would be more helpful to see the actual file your trying to parse and the code your using to parse it.

You've got extra characters in your file, remove all the minus signs outside of the elements.

Looks like you copied and pasted from IE's rendering of an XML file IE automatically adds those little minus signs so you can collapse the nodes for easy reading.

Follow the advice Republikin gave to make it valid XML.
