Hola senor en senora.

I have a question on Access.

I have a DB.mdb.

You see, I have to access this DB almost all the time. Eg. To display tables
And I need to have back-ups of this DB in the computer.

The original location was in C:\ drive but then due to restrictions of memory space, I had to re-allocate my DBs into another drive. And so D:\ drive became the specified location for all my project work.(using virtual mapping)

Before I changed the location of the drives, I had initially duplicated the DB & placed it in another location. And before that too, I had done some of my projects on that DB. So, after changing the drives & then changing the codes in my ASP pages, I wanted to delete the unnecessary DB that I created after moving to D:\ drive. I found out that I cannot delete the DB & there was this error message saying:
Error Deleting File or Folder

Cannot delete DB : There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use.

What causes this error? I had Google-ed this error and read a few webbies but still I cannot understand why I cannot delete the DB. Some webbies speculated that maybe my Notepad codes has some pointers to that DB. But..I only have 1 Notepad that uses that DB. And I have already changed the direction to that DB to something else.

I wish to clarify all my doubts & questions here. I do hope you guys could help me out here. Pardon me if I soung ignorant, I am still a newbie in ASP-Access & I do want to finish this project.

(I'm sorry for the other 2 threads, I don't know how they appeared more than 1, do hope the Mods could help me delete those two)

Hola senor chrishirst. I tried to delete the .ldb but the same error appeared. I tried again a few times, looking into the Permissions rights but still no avail.

I decided to re-start my computer. Is that safe senor ? Because the computer takes too much of my time. I need to do my project & the error message wasn't helping me. The funny thing was, after I re-start my computer, the .ldb files can be deleted. And after that only I am able to continue with my processing macros.

You see senor, in my DB, has an Import macro that imports 6 text files to their respective table (Eg. tempTable1, tempTable2..so on) I have already done the necessary things but I don't realise when this error message appears(it was quite some time till it appeared again). The message sounded like this:
You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time. If you proceed to make changes, you may not be able to save them later.

What does the message means senor? I have already Google-ed but the the solution they gave me was to create a workgroup. What is a workgroup? In the project, only 1 person access this DB everyday. So, I am now working for the person, how should I go about & solve this error message?

What should I do actually? I'm quite lost & do hope you guys could give me a better idea of the error(pardon me if I sound ignorant). Gracias.

the error means that something has opened the table and locked it. If you have IIS running it could be that something in the code is starting and accessing the database.
You need to stop this first.

Hie Senor. Thanks for replying to my topic.

So that means that the codes/notepad that is accessing that particular DB has to be stopped first before deleting the .ldb?

Erm, can you explain abit please Senor?
