Yes, this is something I have been wanting to do for a while...but guess what, I don't know anything about internet databases (cept something I learned a little of while in college)

Let's say I wanted to create an internet dating site, have users Register, Log-in, and create a profile, etc etc etc.

Any where I can start? Perhaps there's just some pre-fab code I can copy and paste into an editor?

I might used PHP code more than likely for this.

Anyone can help me get the ball rolling?

You have a choice - you can either do it the long way, or you could get hold of a pre written dating script. If you want to use an existing one and edit it, search google, and this forum, I'm sure I've seen people asking for dating scripts loads of times before...

If you want to create one, first of all you need to decide which database and server side language you're going to use. This usually depends on what you already know, or what your host supports. Your options are usually ASP.NET and SQL Server, or PHP and MySQL but there are many others. The first thing you should do is design your database structure - create tables to hold each logical unit of data that your site will need - for example, you'll need to create a table to hold all your Users.

I am opting for MySql, since that's the format I am used to, however, I might need a tutorial on the whole "Table" situation when users create profiles...I have simply learned to create simple tables...like I just did here:

(Can't seem to carraige return past the embedded image for some reason)

Anyways, I am opting for the "pre-fabricated" dating script, and then customizing/change things around a bit...don't have time to start from scratch.

Anyway I can get those tables to work for people who create profiles?
