Hello (first post)

Does Webmastertalk have a visual tutorial on how to create a database? I am not getting IPB to connect to a database no matter how I try.

Named the database

Gave all permission

Created a username and pass

I go to install in my cpanel but it just does'nt recognise...argeeeeeeeeee As I create I make sure the right details are in notepad as I create so I am sure all is correct but yet..

I am not sure what IPB is. With most scripts you have to install the tables to the database. Some use an install script and others require you to use phpadmin to add the tables.

Did you add the user to the DB in your cPanel?

If this script does not have an install program did you edit the config or connection file and include the correct names?

What error message are you getting?

I can most likely help you but I need more information.

You need to make sure that you assign that user to the specific database and give them the specific privelages.

maybe you dont have the correct link to it. my sites subdomain is boredportal, my database name is db12, so my database would be "boredportal_db12" There could be problems with your host though. I left t35.com and got a profusehost.net because t35 doesnt allow CHMOD 777 (no cgi-bin) and has no support but profusehost does and there support is great

Here is a video demo tutorial that is available publicly on the internet:

http://demodemo.com/1/tutorials/cpanel_xv2_mysql.htm

That tutorial from DemoDemo guides you to create properly your MySQL database.

Please note that you have to add a User to the database you created as colbyt mentioned.

Hope this helps.

****, DemoDemo stuff. Haven't seen that in years.

They've got some great tutorials. And the owner's a pretty nice guy too (shot pool with him once.)

i believe that invision board requires you to create the database, create the user and pw, grant priveleges. then on your installer you need to be sure that you add all the correct information. if you need help getting installed just let me know, and if time permits i will get that installed for you.

good luck in your endeavors
