Ok i know there is somebody out here who can help me make a remote connection to mysql server on my hosting server. i can use a third party application such as mysql control center, but am unable to connect using dreamweaver. i have been back and forth with my hosting provider tech support for two days now, and have gotten nowhere.

i have tried the ip address, i have tried localhost,
the directory is being created on the server, but it says its not available, i checked the permissions and it has the correct perms.

I've never even tried to connect to a database through Dreamweaver - didn't know it could do that.

Have you been able to connect to that db through another application, or through whatever web app lives on the server to manage the db? It could be something in DW, or, maybe more likely, your firewall could be blocking you. Trying to connect through, say, Excel or Access, and a web app, would help you narrow the problem down.
