hi
i am setting up a homemade greeting card website and wondering if i can set up a database with all the cards in it.
it would include info such as reference number, a picture of the card, a description and a price
i am familiar with xhtml / css and could put all the products on a page manually but there are over 100 different cards and i was thinking would a database be a better way of doing it?
i have a domain name and free hosting setup which includes php and mysql
please can anyone advise?
ben

Yes, you should definitely use databse. But I advise you to store pictures not directly in database but on a server and in database store only file names.

Well, it depends if you know PHP or not. I suggest you to find a good tutorial or buy a book. Or if you already know PHP, you should get familiar with MySQL at http://dev.mysql.com/

You can use Access linked tables to manage your MySql database.

But simply having your data stored there isn't enough, at this point your web server needs to be programmed to talk to that database. PHP is a common way to do that.

You may be better off with a content management system ( which are all databases at heart ).
