I've been trying to decompose this table that is already in 3NF into BCNF, no luck yet though, any ideas?

I reminded myself what BCNF actually was over at Wikipedia

However, I find their example obvious/trivial in comparison to the above. It seems a bit too abstract for me to get my head around at the moment.

Hopefully someone else will come along with a bit better database head than me, but I'll check back and have another go at this later if you still need help.

Thanks for your reply damien_ls, I also read BCNF in Wikipedia but as you said their example is pretty obvious, I couldn't find a way to apply it to my table.

The only semi-useful pointer I could give would be:
Quote:
Indeed, Range Code is dictated by the combination of Product Category and Stock Category. This scenario, in which a 3NF table features a non-trivial dependency on something other than a candidate key, is in violation of Boyce-Codd Normal Form.
That seems to be the main point to note, but I'm still non-the-wiser about how you would apply that theory to your example table as I don't see any column that has a dependency on another?
