Im relatively new to the web codeing world, however i do understand enought html to do some basic to intermediate functions. My question is im looking for a way to organize lots of information into a database of sorts, the database will allow users to search it and seperate out entrys based on different factors, each entry can be clicked on which will take the user to another page with more specific information concerning that entry. Three important features in this "database" are it must be able to incorporate pictures with each entry, users need to be able to comment on each entry and have comments posted in that entry about that entry, and finally it must be free or close to it! i know its asking alot but im hopeing somebody has heard of something that will match my needs closely.

You mean like most shopping carts/catalogues, Blogs, CMSs, Photo Gallery scripts etc.

I think WordPress will do all of that, and is free. Although I think you also need a web host to install the package on, and one that supports php and MySql.

Sounds a bit like Gallery to me?

I'm not certain, but I expect there'll be some connector for WordPress / Gallery if some WP functionality is required too, or otherwise WP may be able to do all that you need itself anyway.

Oh, and WordPress offer a free blogging service which may avoid the need for external hosting: http://wordpress.com/

thanks for all the replies, ill look in to wordpress. I have a server allready with a mysql database set up as well as php support, my intended use for this database is like a catalog with pics of sorts.
