I'm hearing a lot of buzz that Google is dropping mass pages from their index. I noticed when I search Google with the "site:" command, my site had dropped about 1000 pages. Has this happened to anyone else?
They do drop pages once in a while because they can't reach them or due to other crawling/indexing errors, but I haven't heard of or seen any en masse site "delistings" (although if there are, it's long overdue).
The question I have for you is: are you seeing any loss in search engine referral traffic?
Loosing a thousand, wow. How many pages do you have in all?
I can't imagine if it is true that he losses thousand of pages. I think it will back soon. Maybe just because google is in the process of updating records.

No loss in traffic. The pages that have been dropped appear to all be forum topics, most of them are archived anyway. I'm not concerned, I'm just wondering what the reasons are for these changes.

Thought for today:- Is SEO the only industry where all the cowboys are Indians?

It is normal in Google to drop pages but sometimes they get the sites back in their respective ranks
