google indexing sites with same domain data

Hi,
Is there any problem with the Google indexing if I have 2 different sites, with 2 different domains that have the same domain registration data, that links to each other? It seems to me that Google penalizes sites that link each other if they have domains owned by the same owner. Is that true?

Thanks.

No, I think google will penalize own a lot of domain and web site.
yours just 2 domain will be fine.

I am not so sure. I have noticed that when I link together 2 different sites (on different domains) they are ranking low in Google. Sites are on topic, and domains are registered with the same information as regarding the domain owner.

This is not the way to draw useful conclusions adiluca. You can't just observe 2 events and conclude that they are linked. Ranking is influenced by many, many factors, most of which we aren't immediately aware of.

There is nothing wrong with linking 2 sites owned by the same person, so I doubt that you are being penalised.

I think lots of people have a handful of sites for different reasons and link them to each other. Look at half the sigs here and you'll see web sites that do this and rank well.

Google will not penalize even if you have more than 2 and all of them link to each other from the footer if they are related. I have seen quite a few of such networks and the biggest example is internet.com and webhostingtalk.com

Basically Google doesn't care. It just spiders the content and, for want of a better way to put it, best content wins in their specific market. Who owns the domains has nothing to do with it.

interlinking your own sites becomes a problem when you have a lot of cross-linking and it is the only (or a huge majority of the) links the pages have, so the network becomes an "island" of cross-linked sites.
