You can include a Google search box on your pages if you have an adsense account. Go to Adsense Setup > Adsense For Search, and then customise.

Gringo's method is probably more relevant and straightforward than mine so I'd go with him

But what if I don't have an Adsense and I don't want to acquire it, still is it possible for me to have a Google search bar?

Sure. I don't have the URL handy, but you can get a Google API key and put a search on your site. You can limit it to image and blog search if you wanted, or do all kinds of cool things. That way is free.

Normally that's a good thing, right? But in this sense, what other people are telling you is if you use the Adsense method, you'll get paid, but if you use the search API you won't. It's not just having this to put on your site that's free, it's also the traffic you send Google's way, that's free too.

But you probably won't make a killing on AdSense for Search anyway. And it takes a few days to get approved for AdSense (at least for content) but you can make the AJAX way work in five minutes.

Actually you can monetize the CSE if you have an adsense account. You just input your publisher ID. If you don't have or want an adsense account you can still make yourself a CSE and it will display ads you just won't get paid if anyone clicks on them. And you can't remove the ads from the results unless you are a non-profit or a school.

I like this method better than the option of doing it via the adsense page because it doesn't display the radio buttons that allow you to choose between your blog/site and the whole internet. It's much cleaner and the Google branding is inside the input field instead of above/below or on the search button.
