I start a new site. so i go to google webmaster center.
Add my site domain, then verify a site, i choose HTML verification, create and upload a blank html file,click "VERIFY".

Google tell me "NOT VERIFIED, We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (Success) in the header."

But i can view html file in my browser.
anyone can tell me how to solve it?

make your 404 page return the CORRECT status code.

but it's simple enough to code on the 404 page
