Is this another G. dance?
Is this mean that TBPR might be some kind of fluke and G. screwed up big way?

The backlinks are getting updated and so you should be seeing some changes in that terms.

Yep backlinks are being update with the PR update as often happens. I wouldn't put much stock in using the link: command at Google. They only show a sample of the links they know so it's not even close to being accurate. Better to check at Yahoo.

I do realize that but jumps from almost 60 to 40 and then to 220
inside of one week period too crazy even for me

I bet there is something wrong with last PR update and G is jumping
around and is trying to make some sense

I think it's hard to conclude anything meaningful from looking at the inaccurate toolbar PR and the inaccurate link: command. Both are public and incorrect versions of the truth, so I just wouldn't look at them. I suppose you might think that the trend (i.e. is either one going up or down) might give some clues to something, but the trend could be wrong too.

For my site I've not noticed any difference in traffic, and most of it comes from Google, so I would assume that they are just messing with publicly viewable metrics - not anything that really matters.

google backlinks doesn't satisfy what is our expectation of our backlinks. its better to check this in yahoo.

I tell you what I think

G. tried new algo that shocked not only public at large but G. as well.

Solid and well established sites like Yahoo, Dmoz and lets not forget this Forum PR went
down but sites with no or very little value went up which made G. to realize that
something went wrong and now they are working to fix the problem and that is why
backlinks count is jumping up and down.

I maybe wrong but my guts are telling me that there is more to what we already know
and that something is going to happen based on first signs I see from the last week results.

I doubt that anything "went wrong"

What normally seems to happens in updates, is that the filter levels are up full and the effects noted. Then, over a few weeks they are gradually tweaked downwards until the concerned parties at Google are happy that things are as they intended.

fastreplies that kind of change will happen when Google is updating what they show for backlinks. You won't see it all the time, but when backlinks are updating it's pretty common to see them go down and up before the count becomes static for a few more months.

At least it used to. It's been about a year since I checked my backlinks at Google. The numbers are just so out of touch with what's going on there's no reason to check there. Check at Yahoo or sign up for an account with Google's Webmaster Tools. Either will give you much better counts.

No one said you should cancel the psychoanalyst. You just don't have to discuss Google backlinks with him or her any more. I do hope that was interpreted like the joke it was meant to be.

Well.......I do not undestand why are you confused.......PR updates and backlink updates are two different things. After completing PR updation this time google has also updates backlinks too nothing else!
