Hi guys

I am very confused with this issue, 301/404 bloody numbers all over the place, i have recently removed some pages from my site when people goto these old pages, they get a 404 error so what should i do ?

Whats the differnce between 301/404 should you set up both ? if so how do i do it in very simple terms lol, as its pretty heavy learning for somone like me ?

A 404 is the correct response for pages that have been removed and are NOT replaced or likely to return.
404 = Not Found

A 301 response should be sent by pages that have permanently moved to a new URI.
301 = Moved Permanently.

301 and 302 are responses that lets you redirect a certain URL to another. just to let you know, and as an addition, 302 is a redirection that is only temporary. those redirections are advisable especially for those 404 pages.

how to do it? well, got no knowledge about it. I only have the idea.

Please when you do not know the answer DO NOT POST COMPLETELY WRONG INFORMATION.

It helps NO-ONE least of all YOU

302 redirects ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT TO BE USED IN PLACE OF A 404 response.
