Probably because you use the name of your website more on your contact page than you do on your home page.

Hard to know without seeing the two pages, but what you're seeing isn't uncommon. Would I be right in guessing you're site is relatively new with not too many links from other sites yet?

Feel free to tell us your site's name or link to it. Add a forum signature with a link. If we can look at the two pages it'll be easier to know what's going on.

More links are found to your contact us page then you home page. Links may be your internal links as well.

Nope. There is no "at least x words" just as there is no "no more than x words" on any page.

Use as many or as few as you need to get your message over.

Well.........its just because your contact us page have more kewords or have used your site name more times in comaprison to your home page. You just have to optimise your home page again for your keywords or your site name.
