Hey Im not sure if this is in the correct forum, but its more of a question. Would it be worth it to hire someone (that knows the google/search engine world) to get my site listed and improve rank etc? im not looking for a company really just someone that will be able to advertise hostburst (My web hosting company) and get as many links out to improve rating etc?

You can do it by yourself!
1. Exchange links with other webmasters.
2. Sig your url in forum posts.
3. Submit your site to directorys.
4. etc...

lol @ ferret77...that had me chuckling!!

read up on SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and you *can* do it yourself. You can start after just a couple of hours.

I started getting interested in the SEO world in about '99 / '00. Now I'm employed by a company as their SEO officer. In the last 12 months, traffic is up 50%, sales are up 400%, and the web now does more business than the shop floor.

I've got a job, and the skills I use are totally self taught. If I can do it, at the age of 17, you can too!! Don't need expensive companies, get learning now!

Anyone can learn to do SEO themselves. And the best part about this particular field is that there are SO much free information on how to do it. Despite this fact, please consider the fact that if your main focus to produce sales for your web hosting company, you might want to consider hiring someone do reciprocal or one way linking for your web hosting company. The time involved to monitor linking partners, respond to emails, and adding links can be very time consuming. In fact, it can become overwhelming if you're also in charge of handling web hosting clients technical questions.

And when you get a chance, please check out http://www.seo-guy.com/. He has some good resources to get you started. Being an SEO consultant myself, this is the only SEO guru in the world that I will trust with my website. :-)

guys i have to disagree a little with you-)

i run a seo - web development company here in greece and its not always so expensive ... we start from 45 euro with manual seo , not robots or other programing who may banned your sites from SE.

i dont want to say more cause i m not here to advertise my company.

@sirgamesalot first of all stay away from any seo software like webposition gold etc.
dont even submit your site from free robots systems.

find a good company near to you to do seo manualy or read and learn and start to become a seo by yourself.
its not a couple hours as someone says, you will need much more.. but in the end you will see that it was deserve your time, so if you have free time do it, anyone can be a good seo if he gets that seriously.

i said you could begin to optimise your site within a couple of hours of reading.

personally, i've been doing SEO for 3 years now, and I still don't know everything.

Not done bad to be #2 in the world for "Safari Equipment", and "Mosquito Nets" at the age of 17 but I'm still learning all the same.

It's a continuous process, but with a couple of hours of research you can begin to chip away...
