According to Google's Philosophy, they're striving to be the perfect search engine:
http://www.google.com/intl/en/corporate/tenthings.html

But when I do a search with various queries (using Google):
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&n...ne&btnG=Search
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&n...22&btnG=Search
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&n...ne&btnG=Search
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&n...22&btnG=Search

Google's SE is not listed on there for any of them.

I guess I shouldn't be using Google to try and find the "perfect search engine", whichever SE that may be.

Maybe they should change their philosophy (or algorithms).

(This thread is, in a sense, the spiritual successor to this one:

Maybe that's why they're striving to be the perfect search engine. Even a perfect search engine will recognize Google as the perfect search engine.

There isn't going to be an answer to a perfect search engine, every human being is unique, it is impossible to have a positive vote from every internet user.

Then the perfect SE recognizing Google wouldn't be the "Perfect SE"

So Google's chasing an "impossible dream" then?

You know, this thread is #6 for your first query, without quotes. If our search (up in the right corner) isn't the perfect search engine it proves ours is a perfect search engine.

I was at Barnes N Nobles and picked up a book called Goolge Hack. They have some very good queries in there to help modify your searches.
